Why Does A Bottle Of Water Cost More Than A Litre Of Processed Gasoline?

I thought about this a few times in the past and still have not come up with a satisfactory answer. Sort of like that saying credited to the American showman P.T. Barnum, "There's a sucker born every minute". I guess if people really want something, or think they need it and are willing to pay for it, then they will. No matter what the cost. I also remember a few years ago getting into a conversation with a retired former auto industry worker, I can't recall which one exactly, but it was one of the big 3 American auto makers. They have a few production lines around here.(Actually I should add "had". This was before all the major lay-offs and shut downs of assembly lines and production facilities, etc)

Anyway, this guy told me how most of the cars that are shipped across the continent on rail are only insured for a few hundreds of dollars. The reason being in the case of a derailment and a total loss, at least the auto maker will get back the money put into the making of the cars. Remember, most of the new models sell for at least $25,000. Just something to ponder. Here is a pretty cool informative video all about this topic. It helps explain why people are getting into massive debt in short amounts of time.

Most families have 2 working parents and still they are only a paycheck or two from missing crucial payments. If one of them loses a job however, then it's just a step or two from total disaster. Also why you are paying many times over the price for a house that only in 25 yrs you may actually own. It helps shed some light as to why it's really money and the money makers that are pulling the strings behind the major headlines we read in the newspapers and internet news sites. There is lots of subterfuge that goes unreported and the powers that be, the people behind the curtains,(no, not that curtain, this curtain) want it to stay that way. You will need to set aside a couple of hours to watch this but it will definitely enlighten you I'm sure, and maybe cause you to delve a little deeper into the subject.

For Croatian readers of my blog, here is a version with Croatian subtitles:

Also an interesting short video with some interesting facts regarding todays technologies, especially the internet related ones, and the rate at which it is growing and affecting each one us. The English version can be seen HERE.

Jeste li znali? / Did you know?

Now, if at the end of the day you're still not sure why a bottle of water costs more than a litre of gasoline. This short video will tell you very plainly.
