Jakov Fak Wins Bronze And First Medal For Croatia At 2010 Winter Olympics.

I just came home from skiing myself and heard the great news. (It was sooo nice getting out of the city btw, not a McDonalds, Tim Hortons or Starbucks coffee shop in sight, or any of the usual downtown ghettoites, or members of the extremely large homosexual community.) At least now we know Croatia won't go home empty handed from Vancouver. Jakov had a great race in the 10 km biathlon sprint, finishing only 1.8 seconds from silver and only 14 seconds away from taking gold. His time will come though.

This medal Jakov will cherish forever I'm sure, and proves that last years bronze at the World Biathlon Championships was no fluke. It also shows that we wont have to rely on Ivica or Natko alone to bring back a medal from Vancouver. Maybe that will take off some of the pressure for our ski team and provide some inspiration. When he returned last year from the World Championships to his hometown of Mrkopalj, all his friends and family showed up and threw him a big party. Well, they better get the pivo, vino, sljivovica, and champagne out again, because it's going to be another day he wont soon forget. Good for him. (I wish I could be there for that one.)
