Croatia boss Slaven Bilić has agreed to take over at Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow following the European Championships, it was confirmed on Monday.

Bilić, 43, confirmed in a press conference held in Split, that he would commence duties in Russia upon completion of his side's Euro 2012 campaign.

"I signed a three-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow, the contract shall come into force after the European Championship," Bilić confirmed.

"I am extremely happy and proud to go to a big club, big city and a very strong league. I informed the President, the Secretary-General and some members of the FA, as well as some older players."

The former-West Ham player revealed that a big motivation for his decision was Lokomotiv's desire for European football, as well as the club agreeing to take on his backroom staff.

Bilić coached Hajduk Split in Croatia before taking the national team job in 2006, following a successful playing career in Germany and England.

He will now replace former-Sporting Lisbon boss Jose Couceiro, whose departure was confirmed by the Russian club after just a year in command.

I put this pic here to show that, unbeknownst to many, that soccer players/managers can be multifaceted and musically talented as well.  Bilić is  fluent in German, Italian and English, while he also holds a degree in law.

"I'm very glad that we have managed to sign a contract with such a strong and renowned coach," Lokomotiv president Olga Smorodskaya told the club's official site.

"Bilić is one of the best coaches in Europe, and in fighting for him we had to hold off serious competition from many clubs, including from the English Premier League. I don't doubt that Bilić will take our team to a new level and find success with Lokomotiv."
