Photo Of The Day....Croatian Apron & Charbroiled Oysters In Louisiana

I came across this pic from near New Orleans by chance and found it amusing, so decided I might as well throw in the whole short attached article. If you've read any of my previous Croatian food related posts, then you'll know we catch and eat plenty of seafood also, including oysters, mainly along the coast. (See my 'brudet' recipe post) Personally, I've never had charbroiled oysters as seen below, but I'm sure they taste good. That's the way it is down there in Louisiana, or so I hear. "If it moves, charbroil it or fry it, if you ain't sure it's dead, charbroil AND fry it."  (I just made that up, but they probably do say something like that) This addition is sort of a continuation from a previous bikini anniversary post. Anyway, interesting apron....

The Plaquemines Parish Seafood Festival opens tonight with Croatian Night: Enjoy traditional Croatian music from 6 to 8 p.m. A long list of food will be available for purchase, with the ever-popular charbroiled oysters just one of dozens of offerings.

The fest opens at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Festival grounds are at 225 F. Edward Hebert Blvd. in Belle Chasse.

Live music will be presented throughout the weekend, including Dash Rip Rock on Saturday and Rockin Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters closing out the fest on Sunday night. Other fest highlights include the queen's pageant on Saturday, helicopter rides and the oyster drop game.
