Photos Of The Day: Skating At Newly Opened Ice Park In Downtown Zagreb

I already did an interesting holiday themed post yesterday about the very earliest and ancient history of Santa Claus and holiday traditions, but then I came across these cool pics related to an earlier post a few weeks ago HERE. Like I said there, this is not super exciting news at all, but I like doing these types of "Photo of the Day" posts because their easy to do and are usually interesting. (I have some college photography courses and some private gallery stuff I've done here and there, so this is sort of my thing, it's all about sharing and telling stories and events through just interesting images and perspectives)

This is a really great idea, having a new large outdoor public skating area set up for the public right near the downtown of a city. (We used to have one here downtown that I used to go to sometimes when I was a 'tween, but it was puny and inside of the downtown mall, and that disappeared many years ago, so then it was back to the local park or other indoor arena ice rink) This will look much cooler I think once the next snowfall happens, all those glowing and glittering holiday colours reflecting off the snow etc, it will probably look like some kind of magical fantasy snow kingdom full of dreamy winter wonderland skating and fantastical holiday merriment, just like some frikin Disney cartoon come to life.

In case you didn't know, the first hockey game on natural ice was played in the winter of 1916 between HAŠK (Croatian Academic Sport Club) and PHŠD (First Croatian Sport Society) and there have been skating associations in Zagreb already since 1894, also an annual FIS Ski World Cup event takes place at Medvjenica mountain (Sljeme) which overlooks the city, that's another cool option. Sometimes the European Figure Skating Championships also take place in Zagreb, watching hot women figure skaters is not a bad way to pass the time too)

If you're in the area this holiday season you should check it out, even if you don't skate there's also booths set up where you can drink hot drinks, spiced wine, beers and foods, even roasted chestnuts like in those movies with those pianos and jingly bells. (I wouldn't recommend drinking too much spiced wine and then skating though) You can rent skates also if you don't have any. For those not in the know about the many events and things that go on in downtown Zagreb during the holidays, well now you know and a couple videos at the very bottom.....

For those not in the know, I found some footage of what downtown Zagreb looks like during the winter holiday season. (along with some other outdoor skating scenes)

More recent footage.

I leave a response whenever I like a post on a blog or if I have something to valuable
to contribute to the conversation. It's triggered by
the fire displayed in the article I looked at.
And after this article "Photos Of The Day: Skating At Newly Opened Ice Park In Downtown Zagreb".
I was excited enough to post a thought ;) I actually do have a few questions for you if it's allright.
Is it only me or does it appear like some of these remarks look
as if they are left by brain dead individuals? :-P And, if you are posting at other online
sites, I'd like to keep up with you. Would you make a list
all of all your communal sites like your linkedin profile,
Facebook page or twitter feed?
